Web-bots (or Googlebots) are programs that search out websites, gather information, and make it available to those that enter a search phrase into a search engine. Before they can 'report' web-bots must be able to 'read' what they think is important.
- Place important information above less-important information
- Repeat the most-important information on more than one page
- Present identifying name or location information as text - web-bots cannot read a graphic image to 'read' text that is incorporated within a graphic
- Use text size 2 or larger - smaller text is used for copyright or disclaimer information, and it is often ignored by web-bots
- Know that a web-bot places importance on your HOME and CONTACT US pages - focus extra attention on these pages, because web-bots do too
- Don't try to fool a web-bot - avoid 'sure-fire' tricks to create false search engine importance, such as: using hidden text, repeated keywords, or other 'known' unethical spam
- CHANGE SOMETHING on your website DAILY or WEEKLY - if a web-bot knows your site is changing frequently, it will return frequently to see what's new, and that is a big indication that it is a vibrant internet site
